Cover reveal: Volition by Lily Paradis

This novel is set to be released on February 9th 2015, but today the cover has been released;

                                   BACK COVER DESCRIPTION:

"I look up into the sky to see all the drops falling on the ground before they make contact. I realize the drops have more in common with me than I think. We're all just falling until we're not falling, and we don't really have a choice where we land."

" You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach that stays with you, then tears you apart slowly at first, and all at once shreds every fiber of your being? It's because you're contradicting the universe. Everything lines up so perfectly that you couldn't have imagined it to work out any better, but then you have to go and do everything humanly possible to ruin it because you can't stand to have it go right?

    That's what I did.

I did it because there's a darkness that surrounds me, and I think I want it there.

My name is Tate McKenna, and my soul is blacker than my heart."

Lily blew me away with Ignite and let me tell you, it was her debut YA book. I truly love it so much, I re-read it twice and still enjoy it so much. So, I am confident enough with her new novel that it will be just amazing-storytelling. Can't wait to read Volition and part two of Ignite. -Eli

The Force of Gravity review & Mini Haul

Hi, Nikki here!

I am going to review a book that I recently read, and talk about two books I recently purchased. Firstly, the book I will be reviewing is called The Force of Gravity. It is from the NA/YA theme and dealing with the much taboo student/teacher relationship. I feel this book was closer to the YA genre versus NA as is wasn't that descriptive in the naughty department. This is one of my favorite themes to read about in a story, so anytime I see a book dealing with a student and a teacher that is decently rated, I hop on board!

This story follows along with Kaley and Mr. Slate, who happens to be her new math teacher after an unexpected incident leaving her old math teacher no longer in the picture. Her once perfect life, now seems unfulfilling as she finds herself struggling with where she wants to go in life. Things such as parties, prom and just the typical high school actions no longer seem important to her. Slowly she begins to blur the lines between just being a student and wanting something more.

The interactions and subtle hints between the two were perfect and I feel it progressed the story at a believable pace. Their internal struggles of knowing what is right and wrong, and certain actions they took with that knowledge in mind, had my heart racing at several parts through out the story. Of course a book wouldn't be great unless it has some intense situations included, and this definitely had that. I found myself several times very mad and having to put it down, just to huff and puff and pick it up again to find out how it would all end.

All in all, I think this is a great story to add to the collection of growing books dealing with the subject. If you want to check it out, you can find more information on Goodreads or purchase on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Now on to the two books I recently purchased. I found myself in the book aisle of Target and of course, there is one book I always pick up, yet never actually purchase. This time I did. The Fault in Our Stars, but not the infamous blue cover edition. I opted for the movie tie-in with Hazel and Gus on the cover. When I first saw it, I fell in love. But I am always hesitant at buying books I already own on Kindle, just because there are so many other books I can buy that I haven't read yet. And now, seeing it on my shelf, I regret nothing.

As you all probably know the story, it is one I will treasure and read and read and read again until it is falling apart. Or I might just reread the Kindle version so I don't ruin the beauty sitting on my shelf. The story is fantastic and each reread I fall more in love with the characters and the world.

The second book I finally purchased is Four. Up until recently I have found myself really OCD about the way my bookshelf looks. A mix between paperbacks and hardcovers have me itching just thinking about it. It was to the point that I wouldn't even purchase if it was a hardcover because of how it would look on my shelf next to the paperbacks in the same series. My poor Divergent is all alone as well as my Cinder and Scarlet.

But I did it. I took the plunge and bought the hardcover edition of Four. I have yet to read it, but I am very close to picking it up as one of my next reads. I love the world Roth has created and I have easily added this series to my favorite shelves. Getting into Four's mind will only add to the experience!

On a closing note for you guys, I would like to add a few of my favorites dealing with the theme of students and teachers. First is the Slammed Series by Colleen Hoover. My first book to introduce me to the world of taboo! Definitely a must read if you like these kind of books. More of a YA but grows to NA with the following books. Next is A Different Blue by Amy Harmon. Also a toss up between the genres. The last one, Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank, which might be my all time favorite, but definitely not anywhere near the YA genre. This is definitely an adult book as all of hers are. Highly recommend if you are into those though!

And now a little funny extra for you guys. As you know by now, there are two of us here. I apparently started this post the other day and never finished it. When I logged on, I noticed Eli made her introduction post and this one was saved as a draft. I thought, "Oh yay! Eli has started her first review post." I didn't look at it, because I knew it wasn't ready and didn't want to be nosey. I asked her what her first book she would be reviewing to post, and she told me. She also added that she hadn't finished the book yet, which I thought was weird seeing as she already started a post about it, but continued on thinking nothing of it.
Later on she mentioned that she read my draft post about my review. I fell off the couch laughing. Here I am thinking that this post was hers, and I didn't want to read it to be nosey, and it was mine the whole time. We have literally laughed for the past twenty minutes about this. How bad at blogging I am that I started something and didn't even remember it was my own. So glad that she already knows me so well that we could laugh so hard about this incident. Oh Eli, I don't know if everyone else will find this as funny as us, but dang! We sure are awesome.

If you have any questions about the books I shared or anything else, let me know and I will answer anything! Goodnight all.
-Nikki

A little bit about myself!

Hi all 👋 Eli here,

Thank you soo much for having the time on stopping by and checking out Our blog. it means a lot to us. I'm pretty excited and nervous at the same time about this blog and reviewing books and what not, I hope that I can give this blog justice.

Introduction: my name is Elizabeth but everyone I mean everyone calls me Eli (Ellie). I'm 26yr old and a obsessive potter head. My interests is either books or makeup that's it for me. Since this is about books, there really isn't a time I don't have a book or tablet on hand. I don't know about you, but, i tend to keep my books scattered throughout my home. I just love walking around and seeing them in their permanent spot. You'll see me mostly reading YA & NA but really YA. I just can't get enough! Some of my favorite authors are; J.K. Rowing (long live the Queen), Rainbow Rowell, Stephanie Perkins, Victoria Schwab, Gillian Flynn & Richelle Mead. It's pretty much a love/hate relationship at this point with them. Love for mesmerizing storytelling they do in my opinion, and hate for the lack of sleep I always lose reading one of their books.

As Nikki stated before in her introduction post, there will be two of us posting reviews, giveaway, photos, book hauls etc. We hope to make this worth while and fun and exciting and meet new people with the same interest as us. This will be a learning experience especially with reviewing since I don't have much of an experience on. but I'm willing to try and give it my best and hope to grow from.

Should you have any questions, book recommendation, request to review a book etc contact us on here or our respective pages.

You can find me on here or the following by the handle of Booksbyeli on

Just getting started.

Hello all! First of all, we would like to thank you for visiting our new blog. I don't know what initially brought you here, but we hope you plan to stay awhile. Let's move on to introductions, and then get into what we want to use this blog for.

I would like to mention that there will be two of us posting and sharing our thoughts here. So hopefully, we both will be able to keep this fun and interesting for you! I am sure you have noticed by the title that this will be primarily a book blog page. Eli, who will be also posting on here, had a fantastic idea that we should start a blog to share reviews, book hauls and just in general anything book related. And that is how we came to be on here.

Now to introduce myself. My name is Nikki and in my spare time, well anytime really, you can find me with a book in my hand. I have been known to pull out a book in the middle of a gathering. I will try any genre, but I mostly read the newly created NA (New Adult) as well as YA. Some of my favorite authors are Karina Halle, Colleen Hoover, Tiffany Snow, J.A. Redmerski and the list goes on and on.

As far as my writing reviews goes, this will be a learning experience that I hope I can grow from. I know when I like something and feel passionate about it, I want to get others to have that same feeling. The hardest part for me though, is being able to write those thoughts and feelings down well enough to do it justice.

That being said, I have been attempting my hand at writing. As of right now, I have several incomplete works, and hopefully one day I will be far enough along in one, and confident enough to share. I tried to participate in NaNoWriMo, but I only managed to get about 15K words. I guess a good start for only a months time, but I plan to get better in time.

If you have any questions, book recommendations, requests to review a book etc. please let us know and we will do our best to help out any way we can! I love finding new reads and being able to share them with others.

You can find me here, Goodreads, Email or on my IG book account under Tumblr.Books. Eli will be by later on to introduce herself as well giving her contact information! Happy reading everyone.
